NAPA Continues Partnership with RAINN

The National APIDA Panhellenic Association (NAPA) announces the continuation of the partnership with RAINN (Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network), the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization.

The National Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Panhellenic Association (NAPA) is proud to continue to partner with RAINN to bring sexual misconduct awareness, prevention, and response training to members in participating NAPA organizations. NAPA is committed to creating safer and healthier communities that address sexual misconduct, and through the collaboration with RAINN, plans to bring professional guidance, educational programming, and support to survivors and allies.

Through the association-wide initiative for the 2020-2021 school year, NAPA trained over 4,000 members. This year, NAPA is excited to offer both the Level 1 sexual misconduct training developed and delivered last year by RAINN for new members and a brand-new Level 2 training aimed at members who attended last year’s sessions. This new training dives deeper into the complexities and intersectionalities of sexual misconduct within our community.

RAINN is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. Established in 1994, RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline, which is free, confidential, anonymous, and available 24/7 via telephone and online chat, in both English and Spanish. The National Sexual Assault Hotline can be reached at 800.656.HOPE(4673) or at online.rainn.org.

In addition to providing victim services, public education, and advocating for public policy, RAINN provides consulting services and subject- matter expertise on sexual violence awareness, prevention, and response programming to a wide range of organization. NAPA serves to advocate the needs of its member organizations and provides a forum to share ideas and resources within its members. NAPA supports the development of positive relations through open communication with interfraternal partners to enrich the fraternal experience.

RAINN strengthens NAPA’s commitment to supporting member organizations and their efforts to educate, support, and guide community members in issues involving sexual violence and misconduct. The collaboration is spearheaded by an internal NAPA working group composed of representatives from each participating organization and led by Suhani Shah, NAPA Director of Communications.

“We are deeply grateful to RAINN for continuing this partnership into its second year,” said Bilal Badruddin, NAPA Chair. “This partnership has been monumental in fraternity and sorority education, and we are pleased that organizations have found value in this partnership as well. I look forward to seeing these organizations take their Sexual Violence education to the next level.”
